What are Mini Implants?
Mini implants are simply regular implants but scaled down to meet the needs of those with special requirements. A mini implant consists of a small titanium post that acts like the rot of our tooth. The exposed part if the implant has a round fixture that allows artificial teeth to be snapped in. Mini implants are perfect for people with small jaws, little gum coverage, or small teeth.
- Faster recovery
- Better for special requirements
- No gum incision
- Great for small teeth
- As strong as regular implants
The procedure used for mini implants is usually less invasive than having regular implants placed and takes less time as well. Full-sized implants generally require several months of healing before they can reliably support dental restorations, while mini implants can often support an artificial tooth right away. Normally, full sized implants must be placed through an incision in the gums, whereas mini implants can be placed directly though the gums, so less recovery time is needed.
